HANOI OLD QUARTER
  Also known as the 36 Streets Area, Hanoi's Old Quarter is the main tourist and commercial area. With the sharp contrasts of the French-style buildings the Old Quarter is a maze of narrow streets, pagodas, mosque theaters and restaurants mixed with a vibrant buzz of activity. The names of the streets are prefaced by the word "Hang" meaning "Goods" followed by a product that the street previously specialized in. The earliest settlers of Hanoi establshed their particular trade in one street, where they also erected their meeting house. Although today the names don't always depict the trade carried out, you'll still find streets specializing in paper, bamboo, rattan and silk products. It is the jewel of Hanoi's Capital and an exciting and captivating place to be.
